So, yesterday Colin blew his first bubble on a regular bubble wand! He has been practicing SO hard and we were SO proud of the little bubble that came out! It's pretty hard for a little guy to do though, so when I saw this in the store today I knew he had to have it. Remember these little pipe blowers from years ago! Definitely more suited to a kid who still has trouble controlling the air stream enough to make consistent bubbles.
Before we move on to pictures though, here's a mini-rant: what is it with kids toys these days?! This bubble set is rated for kids 4 and up! What? Does anyone actually watch their kids in the 21st century? Apparently not, because how is he going to injure himself with this non-toxic solution, a plastic wand, and a parent in the room. I'm so frustrated with all toy labeling lately, it seems like he should only be allowed to play with round-edged plastic boxes! Good grief, even cardboard and wooden blocks have warnings! If Colin is going to hurt himself, let me assure you, he can do it in the middle of the room with nothing else around him. End rant.
Here are the wonderful bubbles! Fun for all ages!

Colin, blowing bubbles on the first puff! He was so pleased with himself!

Now we just need a little more practice not sucking a little back in! :) Ew. But non-toxic.

Speaking of non-toxic. LOL! I just love this kid. Don't worry moms, it was a new, unopened bottle he just dug out from the shopping bag. Someone's for sure calling CPS this week after reading this post.

In other news, in honor of Cinco de Mayo, a celebration of Mexican heritage - NOT Mexico's Independence, which is in September, (and the fact that we live in mini-Mexico City), we have decided to have a smorgasbord of Mexican food all this week. Last night was huevos ranceros. Mmmm, perhaps one of my favorite foods on earth!

Tonight we made Eastern Mexican tacos (complete with squash, zucchini, and onions).

Still on the menu for later this week are:
Fajitas (we may also be doing jalapeno poppers here to use up some of our peppers!),
Mojito Lime Chicken with black beans and rice, and either
Tortilla Soup or Mexican Lasagne.
If you don't have dinner plans, come on over. Seriously! I promise not to feed you glue or bubble soap like we make Colin eat!

I'll be right over for some mexican food...ha I agree with the labels on kids toys. Parents need to use some common sense. Let them have fun.
You ARE saving some of the Mess-ic-can food for us aren't you?
We can use some glue on Joe's food if you want :-)
