Tamale Time

Colin and I just finished up making a batch of tamales this morning and I figured I had been bad about getting pictures up lately, so I made sure to grab the camera. Colin keeps saying, "we make 'amales and daddy gets home we eat them!" LOL!

For a while we each made our own, but it ended up working better assembly line style today, where I spread the masa, Colin added the meat, and then we took turns folding them.

It looks like a funny face, but he's saying "fold, fold, fold".

Now it's off to the library for us! :)

Ducklings!

Tonight on our evening walk, two of the mama ducks at the park had their ducklings out after the hard rain we had all day.
Colin LOVES ducks.
Nearly as much as he loves throwing rocks into lakes.
Or splashing.
Here's a quick pic of my other boy.
The other mama with the little ducklings was up by the play area.
I thought it was sweet that even some of the teenage boys in our neighborhood were taking pictures of the ducklinsg on their phones.
And then I turned around and this was even sweeter.
Love my boys!

Little Worker and Little Red Wagon

In the eyes of a two-year-old, the day is off to a good start when it begins with watching backhoes and loaders out your window.
Well, not exactly the beginning of the day, since they didn't start until after he'd been up for an hour and a half; but near the beginning of the day. Before that there was oatmeal, pancakes, some book reading, and sitting on the porch to watch the "big kids" get on the school bus (which by the way, picks up elementary kids obscenely early at 6:50).
Once we'd watched several rock trucks dump their loads and the Bobcat haul both dirt and rocks around for a while, it was time to mow the yard. Colin got out his little 'mower' and mowed along with me. Then while I used the weed eater, he swept grass from the walk and patio. What a good little helper!
Apparently all this work (oh, and getting up crazy early all week and not wanting to nap), actually wore him out. As I was fixing my own lunch, I heard his breathing get strangely regular for someone supposedly eating. I looked over to the dining room and he'd fallen asleep without taking a bite!
Once he finally woke up, re-requested and ate his fish sticks (his new favorite lunch food), we went outside to play and enjoy the afternoon. I got some cute pictures of Colin riding his little trike. He still prefers the small one his Papa made to the new Radio Flyer one we got him.
And to finish off your evening, a picture of totally grungy, gangly boy toes. :) Ew! Enjoy!
