16 Months Old

We had Colin's pictures done this afternoon. As always, Colin was kind of a booger about being in the picture room, but was a goofball and making faces at Annette afterward. However, as usual, she still got some cute ones! Here are a few of my favorites! I'll get more pics up of the last couple days either later tonight or tomorrow!

Night Out!

Michael's squadron had a dining in tonight, so he had to come home from work and get dressed up for dinner.
While Michael was out with the boys, we decided to meet Lauren and Lily at Red Lobster for some seafood! Colin did very well, eating most of his fish and mashed potatoes. And most of it with his fork. :)
Once he was mostly done (and the grownup food arrived), he realized his bread tasted really good in Laura's butter. And his mashed potatoes. And his fish. We figured he'd eaten well the rest of the day... he was trying to be all sly about it in this picture.
Then he started acting goofy and getting tired, so we knew it was about time to call it quits!

Kids' Cooking Show

As soon as we had picked Laura up from the airport, we headed over to Anna's. She has been wanting to host a "Kids' Cooking Show" for a while and it was so fun! Here's our lovely hostess (teehee, sorry Anna):
And Laura helping mash bananas for our smoothies:
Colin grazed all morning, snagging something to eat each time he went through the kitchen!
Thanks Anna for a wonderful morning of friends and food!

Hello Oma!

We picked Laura up from the airport this morning! Colin was happy to see her, but kept looking up the ramp and asking, "Papa? Papa?" Poor Laura!
And a couple pictures of Colin playing in the church nursery on Sunday morning...just cause I think they're cute!

Another Going-Away

First off, I'd just like to say that I'm pretty much tired of people moving this summer! We went to a going-away for Eddie and Julie tonight. I'm bummed because I feel like I've just really started to get to know both of them over the last few months and now they're on their way back to the UK. Matt is leaving in a few weeks too. :( Ug, I know it's the military and all, but too many people just this summer! That's all.

Anyway, we did have a great time over at their house tonight. Both their daughters were in and Colin always loves flirting with college girls. :) He really loved playing in the pool also.
Darren was a sweetheart and kept trying to get Colin to look at the camera...good luck! I told him that's why we just take so many pictures ~ eventually he should be looking in some! Colin and Matty are becoming fast friends this summer! They're here 'til December before heading back to Australia, so no goodbyes too soon! What a cutie-patootie!Colin's favorite part of the dinner (even though Eddie barbequed) was the watermelon. He gnawed and gnawed until he was eating rind!
Later, Colin decided he needed to splash in the pool just a little bit more! He was very good about getting on his tummy first though!

Good Morning!

Good morning! We are having a great day around here! The morning was housework, so we can play all afternoon! Colin and I got the house scrubbed down for the week and the laundry caught up and Michael weedeated (is that a word?) the yard, which is all it needs after weeks and weeks of virtually no water! Colin and Percy watched him for a bit while I put away laundry.
Then Colin crashed for almost 45 minutes. Not napping yesterday, but playing hard apparently actually caught up to him.
Such a sweetie.

Girls' Lunch and RAIN!

So today, Colin and I joined the girls for our weekly girls' lunch. Here is the kids' table. Colin shunned the bologna and cheese after a few bites in favor of the more adult fare. Guess what we had?
Fondue! Yummy cheese and chocolate fondues with tons of stuff to dip in them. Here's a sampling:
And the dessert tray (after being nearly demolished!).
Oh man, was it ever good! The kiddos had a great time pummeling each other while us girls socialized. Here's a sweet picture of Colin and Emma helping each other down the stairs. They had played together this morning at the YMCA (where they both were the youngest there and got to go play in the treehouse with the big kids!) and were buddies all afternoon too; they even shared pretty nicely.
This evening it RAINED! Yep, you heard right, it actually rained here for about 15 minutes. Colin was fascinated and stared out the window with his mouth agape! LOL!

Wednesday/Thursday Semi-Daily Update

Every morning when Colin wakes up, the first thing he wants to do is say hello to Percival (who is really more interested in just continuing to sleep). Please pardon the unmade bed; you will notice from Colin's wet hair that we have just finished showering and getting dressed. Cut me some slack, okay?
Aww, "da dog...*kiss, kiss*" Colin's daily greeting. Poor Percy.
Okay, one *kiss* then I'm going back to sleep kid.
When he's done, he spends at least another 10-15 minutes making faces, gestures, and funny noises at himself in the mirror. I actually remembered yesterday to grab the camera for them for once.
Sadly, he is not silly all day, every day. Many times this week I have wondered why my feet don't hurt more from standing my ground! He can be so opinionated and stubborn. No idea where this is coming from...well, maybe an inkling...

Anyway, here's a picture of him in the middle of dinner Tuesday night, having a total meltdown because...wait for it...

Michael offered him a drink of water.

Yep, he was eating happily, shovelling food into his mouth with both fists, when his father had the gall to ask him if he needed a drink. Let the terrible twos begin.
Today he threw himself facedown onto the floor at Target and screamed when I told him it was time to move to the next aisle. I really wanted to loudly proclaim that this child's mother should be ashamed, but thankfully there was no one else around, so I just laughed at him and started to walk away. He came with me (though stomping).

On to happier times today!

We went to Sea World this morning for a couple hours. We watched the sea lions/seals and caught the seal show.

Don't you love his little hand in this picture?
We visited the aviary, which he found equally fascinating and frightening.
They were doing some promotional filming of one of the skiing teams, so we watched this guy do flips and such in the water for a while. It was during the Shamu show, so we and another lady were the only ones watching!
Here's Colin. He could see both the guy behind the boat and the rollercoasters from where we were sitting, so he was dividing his attention between the two.
Of course, we had to go see Colin's ducks and "pink birds" too. Yep, he's definitely saying "pink bird" to the flamingos. I hadn't realized how many of his books actually have flamingos in them and he obviously knows what they are. We met a just-retired military family there with their two grandsons, so they took our pic and we took theirs. Then the grandpa got bird feed for their two boys and Colin (he was skeptical about feeding something that looked so tasty to the birds though!).
On our way out, he saw the statue of the Clydesdales and started neighing, so of course we had to stop and see the horses too!
Tonight we made dinner, banana bread, and pound cake (for tomorrow...you'll have to wait to find out, I'll have pics of what we're doing!). Colin kept saying "hot" and blowing on the oven. It was TOO funny! Here are a couple pics of that to round out your day. :)
