What's Up Doc?

Colin found a tiny carrot growing in the garden yesterday afternoon and loved crunching down on it!
And here are one of my favorite flowers I can grow down here: Texas bluebonnets. I love it each spring when I look out back and they have all suddenly come into bloom!

Modern Masterpieces

Yesterday was gorgeous out and Michael wanted to do some touch-up painting on the house, so Colin and I mixed up a bit of salt dough, cut out some spring shapes and did a bit of painting of our own.
Here are the finished products. He told me the blue flower was for Mr. Frank and the butterfly is for Miss Linda (his two Sunday School teachers) because "Mr. Frank read a lot, a lot, a lot of books a Colin". Yep, poor Frank...
And here are some of the other things he makes (mostly Michael) draw:

Just the Wednesday Routine...

We went to our weekly story time again today and I got a few cute pictures of Colin outside that I thought I'd share.
This is the look he gave me when I asked him to look at the camera. He was having way more fun stomping in puddles.
And watching an airplane fly over.
After lunch, he had a bit of a meltdown (over being told the banana bread had to cool before he could eat any). :-/
But for some reason taking his picture and then letting him see what he looked like fixed it. Then he just wanted to smile for the camera! What a nice change!
Silly kid - maybe it'll work again tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath!

Mildly Disturbing Michael

"Moustache March" is almost over, but Michael had a dinner he had to get all dolled up for tonight, moustache and all. I thought I'd take a few pictures so you could all share in the disturbing images.
And my personal two favorites:
Hope your eyeballs are not burned out. My camera appears to be okay still. :)

Speaking of Colin-High-Speed Singing...

Not really sure where it came from, but this is his new method of singing songs to be silly lately:

And a transcript for those of you who don't speak "Colin" (particularly with words removed in his quest for speed):

Twinkle, twinkle little star
Up above world so high
Like a diamond in a sky

Nana: that's not baa baa black sheep!

Baa
Baa baa black sheep
Have any wool
Yessir yessir three bag full
One a master, one a dame, one a little boy lives down a lane

Us: yay! good job!

A do goose goose gander upstairs, downstairs, in a lady chamber,
There a met a old man a would not say a prayers. Took him by the left leg and threw him down a stairs? I do that one?

Nana: do that one.

I do that song.

Nana: do that one fast.

goose goose gander upstairs, downstairs, in a lady chamber,
There a met a old man a would not say a prayers. Took him by the left leg and threw him down a stairs? I do that one?

Us: Cackling. He did this for at least 10 minutes. I had tears in my eyes from laughing!

Keeping Busy This Week

***NOTE: birthday pics are posted, but will be on the next page. You may have to scroll to the bottom and click "older posts" to see them. :)***

It's always a bit hard detoxing from having all the grandparents around (apparently I cannot give as much attention as 4 adults), so my gameplan this week was just to keep us busy. Tuesday morning it was raining, so we went grocery shopping then spent a cool, but dry Tuesday afternoon at Sea World.

Colin loved walking around and re-exploring all his favorite animal exhibits.
Then we came up with what I think will be a new rule for the summer: you walk to the car, but you must stay on the yellow lines. Don't worry, most of the time I held his hand, but he did do a great job staying on them and would correct himself if he almost stepped out!
Wednesday was Story Time at the Library, so we met our friends there for a fun morning.
Colin loves deciding what books to check out each week.
He also loves the "shaker song" where each kid gets a maraca or tambourine or little egg shaker to shake.
This is about the stillest he sat this week. Most of the time he was standing and listening to the stories or jumping and singing during the songs. He sings them all the time at home and always on the way to the library and back. I'm impressed with how well he's learned them.
I keep trying to get video of him doing it, but he seems to know when I have the camera and will sing a silly rendition instead of the real one. I got a bit of video today though of him singing part of one of them at Colin-high-speed. Here are the words (to the tune of This Old Man): story time, story time, story time for you and me at the Guerra Branch Library, story time for you and me.

Giving his girlfriend Miss Kim more flowers after story time (she's already got one from him stuck behind her ear).It cracks me up h0w much he talks about her and always wonders if she'll be wherever we're going! LOL!

On Thursday we decided to head to Sea World again and met Lily, James, Lauren, and Lauren's mom there. Colin and I almost always start and end our Sea World trips with the dolphins.
We watched the Shamu show (but Colin wasn't a big fan of the speakers and music).
After we looked around at the birds and some more animals, it was off to the aquarium and then home again.
Friday we hosted art day and all the kids wore their tie dye shirts from last time. They had a lot of fun painting, mixing gels of primary colors to make secondary colors, painting rainbow ornaments, and making rainbow Fruit Loop necklaces.
We even managed to get some pictures of all the shirts together:
Hope you all had as fun of a week as we did! This should catch you up on pictures from us! Be sure to click to the next page for birthday ones (there were so many to post it may not show up on page 1).
