It's always a bit hard detoxing from having all the grandparents around (apparently I cannot give as much attention as 4 adults), so my gameplan this week was just to keep us busy. Tuesday morning it was raining, so we went grocery shopping then spent a cool, but dry Tuesday afternoon at Sea World.
Colin loved walking around and re-exploring all his favorite animal exhibits.
Then we came up with what I think will be a new rule for the summer: you walk to the car, but you must stay on the yellow lines. Don't worry, most of the time I held his hand, but he did do a great job staying on them and would correct himself if he almost stepped out!
Wednesday was Story Time at the Library, so we met our friends there for a fun morning.
Colin loves deciding what books to check out each week.
He also loves the "shaker song" where each kid gets a maraca or tambourine or little egg shaker to shake.
This is about the stillest he sat this week. Most of the time he was standing and listening to the stories or jumping and singing during the songs. He sings them all the time at home and always on the way to the library and back. I'm impressed with how well he's learned them.
I keep trying to get video of him doing it, but he seems to know when I have the camera and will sing a silly rendition instead of the real one. I got a bit of video today though of him singing part of one of them at Colin-high-speed. Here are the words (to the tune of This Old Man): story time, story time, story time for you and me at the Guerra Branch Library, story time for you and me.Giving his girlfriend Miss Kim more flowers after story time (she's already got one from him stuck behind her ear).
It cracks me up h0w much he talks about her and always wonders if she'll be wherever we're going! LOL!On Thursday we decided to head to Sea World again and met Lily, James, Lauren, and Lauren's mom there. Colin and I almost always start and end our Sea World trips with the dolphins.
We watched the Shamu show (but Colin wasn't a big fan of the speakers and music).
After we looked around at the birds and some more animals, it was off to the aquarium and then home again.
Friday we hosted art day and all the kids wore their tie dye shirts from last time. They had a lot of fun painting, mixing gels of primary colors to make secondary colors, painting rainbow ornaments, and making rainbow Fruit Loop necklaces.
We even managed to get some pictures of all the shirts together:
