Busy Boy

So I didn't get a good eye picture right after it happened. It's just so hard to get a close-up of Colin's face with his eyes in the right direction and good light! Here's a pic of him sleepily awaiting his pancakes this morning. It mostly just looks like he has eyeliner on one eye now!

In funny news, yesterday morning he walked in to our bedroom, having gotten himself out of bed. Got his face right in my face and said, "momma, ba-na-na-bread" as clearly and with as much enunciation as he could muster. He often does this to try and get his point across. Sadly, we did not have any ba-na-na-bread. :( I think I will make some either this evening or tomorrow morning though. Poor baby apparently craves it!
Here are some cute overalls I found for him yesterday at the store. Maybe now his (my) friends will stop making fun of his pants always falling down! It's really not his fault he has a tiny waist and no butt. I guess they don't make clothes for his shape at this age ~ I'm starting to only buy jeans with adjustable waistbands though so I can change it from day to day!
We spent yesterday afternoon at the library. I couldn't get him to leave though because he insisted he must sit at the little tables and read his books, not take them to the car!Today was art day at our house and we had a lot of fun, as usual.
We made bird feeders and nests (from pine needles, grass, and faux feathers). This was fun, but was definitely better for the older kiddos than for 1 year olds! Oh well, Colin still definitely enjoyed the mud!
Here's Lily with her nest (I think mommy helped a bit though!). She looks a little piqued in this picture - maybe she thought we were going to make her stop playing? I think it's kind of a sweet insolent face though...her face is always so expressive! :)At snack time, Colin and Emma were very cute, sharing their ice with each other. I love watching the two of them play...but then it makes me very thankful not to have twins...two headstrong kids this age constantly together might be more than my nerves could take! All in all, we had a nice relaxing morning, lunch with friends, and a fun afternoon playing outside in the cool sunshiny day! Even Michael was able to join in running around the yard when he got off work!

Colin learned to hold his breath and stick his face under the water for several seconds the other night. We were apparently sufficiently impressed because now he does it all the time. He is taking his bath as I type this, so you get a few bathtub pics to end the post (couldn't get one of his whole head in the water though):

"Hap Bu-day Dadda"

Colin woke up this morning and managed to tell Michael (with a bit of prompting) "hap bu-day dadda" before Michael even got out of bed. It was so sweet and then he kept saying it! What a sweetie-pie!

Once everyone was out of bed, we had a big breakfast and opened presents. Although there was breakfast casserole and cinnamon bread, Colin's favorite breakfast food right now is oatmeal and he usually asks for it as soon as he wakes up and eats two bowlfuls. Here he is diving into the second bowl this morning.
Colin got Michael some videos they can watch together (in case you didn't know, Michael loves Peanuts!).
It was an electronics-themed birthday this year, with new webcams and graphics cards on the list. :) Exciting, eh?
Michael spent part of this morning giving Colin rides around the house in the wagon. Colin made himself a nice cushy seat of two-high balls and balloons. Impressive, but we wouldn't let him ride this way, which upset him!
In related not-letting-your-kids-seriously-injure-themselves news, Colin got a nasty black eye this morning that at first had us wondering if we would be taking a birthday trip to the ER. He is okay though and I will try to post a pic and the full story tomorrow. :)

This evening we had some friends over for pizza and cake. Overall I think (hope) Michael had a nice relaxing day at home! Happy birthday!

Boys at Play

"I stack, dada."
A few blocks later...
Smack. "Boom, crash!" *big grin*

Nana Visits

Mom came down this week to give us a hand with Colin. We got to do a couple fun things while she was here. Thursday I decided I needed to do some walking around, so we headed to the zoo for a couple hours in the morning. We all definitely had a fun time!
Mom and Colin, watching the monkeys eat their "salad". Colin also ate a banana while we sat here.
Colin was asking to have this butterfly on his arm, but I never managed to get it there. It just sat on my arm the whole time we were in the butterfly house!
Mom had a butterfly friend too:On Friday morning we met our friends at the Children's Museum downtown. They always have lots of fun things to do and yesterday we even got to paint and play with playdough during the preschool activity hour. Colin's face in this first picture cracks me up!

He's gotten bossy about what he wants me to make out of playdough, but when it's his turn he is mostly just interested in "mashing" and "squashing" it.

Friday afternoon, Michael and I were able to get an early peek at the airshow taking place over the weekend. It was kind of cool getting to look through the planes with mostly just pilots and their families. Michael's squadron works with a lot of them and they were nice enough to invite us out while they were setting things up. Here are a few pics of
Here is mom reading to Colin before she got on the plane today:
Colin found the dregs of my hot chocolate this morning after Nana left and promptly snagged it and ran off to drink, saying "momma's coffee, momma's coffee, more please"!
He was so cute we had to snap a pic before cleaning him up. :)
Have a good night!

Halloween Weekend

Here are a couple pictures of my boys from the week before Halloween and then some pictures of last weekend. I don't have good pics of the costume downloaded yet, but promise to post them later in the week. I will hopefully also get some pics up tomorrow (or, if you believe in miracles, maybe later this evening) of this past week. :)

First up, playing with Percy:
Then trying on mom's shoes. I love how he's admiring himself in the reflection of the oven!
Please disregard the enchilada. It was right after dinner!
On Friday morning we had Art Day over at Lauren and Lily's (who were brave enough to host in my stead). Thanks! Colin enjoyed painting his pumpkin. Which actually turned out looking kind of cute.
He has also really taken to mimicking Sid and Zach, which is too darned cute!
More art:
On Saturday we helped out at our church Harvest Festival. On the way, we grabbed Subway for dinner. As you can see, Colin's favorite sandwich at the moment is a 6" meatball sub. And he can inhale the whole thing. When he's not busy being a total clown.
Michael and I volunteered to man the toddler moon bounce, figuring that way we could both help out and also keep Colin entertained and corralled. It worked! Here are a couple pics before it got too busy ~ the rough count as of last Sunday morning was 1200 people over the course of the night!
Here is Colin working on a drawing before church on Sunday morning. I just thought he was cute sitting there with his clipboard.
One of the guys who snatches Colin up each week. We call him one of Colin's "church grandpa's".
And back in the baby class with Miss Martha, who insisted on having him this week because he was a little fussy (stuffed up from allergies) and who managed to rock him to sleep...how can she do that and why does it not work for anyone else?!?!
After lunch, it was time to head to Zach's birthday party...at Pump It Up! We apparently can't get enough of the place!
More pics to come later!
