Few More Weekend Shots

Here are a few shots of our ever-so-exciting-weekend that I forgot to upload because they were on my phone. :)

Colin's SS class - he's the one leaning over poor Miss Linda's leg as she reads a book. That's his buddy Mr. Frank in the back; when they just have a few kids, he and Frank usually spend the time running errands together around the church grounds. I think he's a little spoiled. :)
A Saturday trip to Lowe's - like I said, height of exciting.
And he and Michael playing with animals while we waited on our check after eating out.
Yep, it was a rip-roaring fun weekend. :) Actually we all enjoyed just being able to spend an unusually quiet few days together as a family. It just doesn't happen all that often. We also watched "Up" together and built lots of block towers and nature preserves!

More "Sleepy" Boy

Colin was again "pretending" to sleep this morning - this time on the futon in our room and the game room sofa (where he "napped" with the dog...poor Percy!)

He has recently taken to calling himself "little boy" almost exclusively. As in, "where little boy's foot go?" Silly kid!

Mid-Week Rut-Busters

The cedar is really bad right now in SA and as a result, we are all feeling pretty under-the-weather Colin even dragged all his blankets out several times today to "pretend" to nap. He only lays there for about 10 seconds at a time, but I figure he's getting a little rest at least.
Once he saw I had the camera out he kept wanting me to take his picture. He'd lay down and pose, wait until he heard the 'click' and then run over to see the shot, then tell me to do another as he raced back to pose!In this one he's saying "silly Colin".
We've been staying inside and were starting to go a little stir-crazy, so since the allergens are absolutely killing us, we headed over to meet our friends Mary, Emma, and Conner at the library's Toddler Time. They sang songs, played with maracas, read stories, and did a Valentine's Day craft. It was a perfect morning's diversion for all of us!
Mary and I both agreed that though we felt a bit like death-warmed-over today that we still wanted pictures with our kiddos, since they happen so rarely. :)

In completely unrelated news, I have made it to the final round of the design contest I was telling you about a few weeks ago. :) Here are some of the things I've designed over the past month:

Some camping equipment I extracted:

A kit called "Ruby's Garden" and named after my great grandma.

A steampunk kit I did with another designer (who, interestingly enough went to Rolla the same time as we did, grew up in North Missouri, and whose brother Michael knows because they had EE classes together). She now lives in Michigan and we wouldn't have known this except we both thought the other's pic looked strangely familiar (obviously she didn't think she knew anyone from TX and I didn't think I knew anyone from MI). Small world. Weird.

A small kit inspired by our art days.

I forced Colin into child labor and he did the background paper on this one with watercolors:

And the kit I originally showed you guys on here.

For the final project I am working on a kit I think I'm going to call "Backyard Fort". :) Wish me luck!

A New Word - No Really, An Actual New Word...Not Just One He's Learned

I walked in the other night to the boys just guffawing at something. Turns out they had made up their own word: "gark" and it was absolutely, hands-down, the funniest thing Colin had ever heard and watching him throw his head back and literally rolling on the floor in laughter was one of the funniest things Michael and I had ever seen, so we all laughed about it for a good long while.
Near as we could tell from his usage, it was a verb of some sort because Mommy, Daddy, Colin, Percy and all the stuffed animals can gark.

Still, several days later, he will sometimes say it and start giggling! He has decided as of yesterday that it's some sort of noise that he will then make for you if you ask him; maybe I can get it on video. It's sort of a cough-snort-bark combo...
And I just had to share Michael's "culinary disasterpiece" (his words, not mine) with you from last night. I have to say first that he's such a good cook, but not a baker; however once in a while he gets it in his head that he wants cake and will (thank goodness) make it himself. Normally it turns out okay, but last night's didn't! It started off with the wrong size pan (he couldn't find the right one, so just decided he'd do two thinner layers and make a layered version), continued with not flouring it enough, and ended with it totally sticking to the pan and him scraping it out and gluing it together with frosting!
Once he was done putting it together and munching on all the bits he didn't stick on he didn't even want any, so I guess we're having cake for dessert tonight! I had to quickly sweep it off the countertop this morning though as the first thing Colin said when he came downstairs was "yum mommy, what's that cake?" LOL!

You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

Yep, every last one of you who has commented/called me about this is right.
Think I should sign him up for acting lessons in case the NBA thing doesn't work out? ;)

A Friday at Home

So we had playgroup today and I failed to get my camera out for most of it! Whoops!

Anyway, I got some cute shots of Lily and Colin after most everyone left (after a year and a half, I still can't get over how they have the exact same eye color).
Hello, what manner of creature are you?
Love you! Lily's a smart cookie though. She gave him a hug and then swiped some snacks out of his bowl! Lauren and I absolutely cracked up ~ and then while we were laughing and Colin was looking at us in shock, she slid the whole bowl over in front of her! LOL!
Speaking of smart cookies, what do you think of my little geek who swipped my glasses after playgroup?
This afternoon and this evening we played a lot of basketball outside.
We've been working on his form for those NBA scholarships. Whatda ya think?
Okay, he gives me this look all the time and it just cracks me up. It's kind of an "okay mom, whatever" face I think.
And speaking of weird looks...as out of focus as this is, I love the goofy look on his face.
Silly boy!

Duck Pond

We bundled up and went to the duck pond this morning to feed the ducks. Colin kept honking at them which was just hilarious!
