Playdate with Lily

Lauren had an appointment this morning, so Lily got to come over and play. We had so much fun! Colin insisted on feeding her some of his Cheerios ~ fortunately she didn't seem to mind! He'd give her one and then say, "mmm".
We played with the musical instruments, blocks, trains and read lots of books.
Colin and Lily both decided they needed to sit in the bed for a while too.
Then Colin read Lily a story (or three).
Here's some video, but I think Lily was getting a bit tired of hearing this book over and over and wanted to pick a new one!

I tried to get Colin to push Lily on Leo, but he wasn't having it.

Apparently this was what he wanted instead.

We had such a great morning with our friend! Lily, I'm glad you could come and I hope you can play again soon!

***Note: Colin and I just rewatched this and he keeps saying "yily, a push".

Sure signs your kid is into pot:

Picking up Colin

On our way to pick up Colin Sunday, we decided to stop at the Texas Ranger museum. It was pretty interesting and I'm sure Colin will like it before we leave Texas. We also got him a little souvenir which you will be seeing soon either as part of the play/dressup box or as part of a Halloween costume. :)
We met Joe and Laura at Bass Pro in Dallas. Colin could have stayed there all day I think, looking at all the animals. We ate at the restaurant in the store and he loved the deer and moose that he could see from his seat! Glad to have my silly boy back!
I have some pics and video of his trip that I will try to get up here soon, but they will have to be compressed first!

Joe and Laura Visit - Photo Blitz

Kind of spur-of-the-moment, Joe and Laura decided to visit for the long weekend! They arrived Friday night and got to be here until Tuesday morning!

On Saturday, we decided Colin needed another trip to the petting zoo.
He seemed perplexed that the goats were not interested in playing with their ball.
He did much better at feeding the bunnies this time (although they were more ready to eat too, so he didn't have to be as patient). He also was a little better at feeding the cows.
Here he is chasing some guineas.
And feeding the piggies with Michael.
But what he really liked was this:
I think he definitely needs one of these for Christmas.
And maybe one of these, which he loved both times we were there.
Probably not one of these, though he loved it too. :)
He is fascinated with llamas lately, in books and in real life. He thinks it's really funny how it sounds like "mama".
On Sunday, we went out for lunch after church. Colin was kind of a booger, but acted nicer once he got to sit in daddy's lap!
He looks sleepy here, but there was no way he was going to let himself fall asleep!
On Monday, all the girls went out for pedicures. Laura was there too, but was taking the picture for me! :)
On Tuesday, Joe and Laura left and took Colin back with them. We pick him up in the morning. Yay!

Also on Tuesday, I got the second set of pockets for the Advent calendar I'm making Colin. I assigned each grandma and aunt to make 5. Here are the first 10 ( Kristen's on top and Laura's on bottom):

First Friday Art Day

We hosted our first art day yesterday morning and it was SO much fun. The guys had the day off work too, so they got to join us! Our theme was school buses, and we painted a big cardboard bus with yellow paint. Colin also painted his feet yellow.
Colin: director of operations (though I'm not sure anyone was listening to him).
We also colored and (the bigger kids) cut out school bus shapes.
I decided to do a super-sugary treat for the snack today. It was just too cute to pass up! For some reason, Seth insisted my bus have three windows and three wheels...leaving very little room for my poor bus driver! :)
James made a short bus!All the kids really seemed to enjoy the tasty treats! All in all it was a very fun way to spend a morning with our friends! Next time our theme is going to be apples and we'll be bringing out the glue!

Michael finds it disturbing...

Michael finds it disturbing that I can alter our child's history. :)

I was trying something new with my scrapbooking and here's what I came up with. Don't worry, I don't plan to do many of these...just wanted to try it out! The shirt he was originally wearing was red and said "Monster Truck," but it didn't fit my theme, so I changed it! LOL! Also, he wasn't holding anything in the hand that now has flowers. I think it turned out kinda cute!

Farmer Colin

We joined several of our friends today for a trip to the petting zoo. It's really close and Colin loved it ~ I think he'd have stayed all day if I had let him ~ so I guess we'll be going back frequently!

They had several "neighs" which of course he really liked and a few llamas, which he just learned the word for from a book a couple weeks ago. They had lots of hay for us to feed the horses, but Colin sometimes would stand really far back and just throw one piece (as he's doing in this picture).
He was much better at feeding the goats. Don't worry, it is goat food, not ice cream! We made sure to give them all the food before going into the pen with them. :)Colin loved being in the pen. Here he is "baa"ing at the goats. Do you think they understood him? I'm pretty sure he thought so!
He was not afraid to get right in them with a group of them either! I was so proud! :) Such a brave little boy!
All the kiddos also got to go for a pony ride. Colin kept neighing at the horse and leaning over the saddle to pat its neck. Aren't you glad I have awesome friends to take pictures while I'm otherwise engaged?
Colin was much more interested in "moo"ing at the cows (are you seeing a trend here?) than in feeding them, but Emma was all about giving them some food. Check out the pigtails...this is a new development and they're so cute it almost makes me wish for a girl!
Emma and Colin also liked looking at the bunnies.Colin was a bit too impatient though to wait for the rabbits to take carrots from his hand, so he kept ending up just chucking them into the cage. LOL!
There were a lot of different birds there, including geese, guineas, and turkeys. Here is a picture of Colin telling me "gob, gob".
Not all of the animals he liked were real. In one of the play areas, they had a spring horse. He spent quite a while bouncing on this and was surprisingly good at keeping his balance while making it go up and down. He kept trying to go all rodeo on me and let go though...we have got to get this kid out of Texas!
Traipsing through the hay bales.
And checking out the pig. They just had baby piglets last month...so cute! They had some out that you could touch, but Colin of course was more interested in snorting at them!

Did you notice a theme with him today? Do you think he's the next Dr. Doolittle?
