Milk vs. Milkshake

So he appeared a bit miffed that no one told him milkshakes were infinitely better than just milk and grabbed the cup out of my hands this afternoon. Don't call CPS; we didn't let him have the straw for long! :)

Off-Kilter Kid

Colin has started scooting himself until he is slightly off-kilter in whatever he is currently sitting in/on, from his bouncer, to the boppy, to our laps. In the bouncer he is happiest when his rear is hanging off the edge and he is precariously balanced in it. He screams if we try to buckle him in.

He also started doing it yesterday in the boppy, which he had been actually just sitting in front of, leaning back a bit on it once in a while. Then he looked at me, grunted, squirmed until he was leaned with his head flopped over the back, and then grinned at me. *Shrug*

Evil Genius Baby

Colin is enjoying his lessons on becoming an evil genuis baby. Today's was on laughing like an evil genius!

Growing Up and Milestones

My sister moved into her dorm room yesterday and starts college on Monday! Wow - I'm feeling very old now! :) I got a tour via webcam yesterday afternoon and am so excited for her. I can't wait to visit in a few weeks!!!
Colin has started riding facing the front in his stroller this week. We went to Babies-R-Us this morning and got him a new ride. This one was borrowed since we knew we would soon want one that was easier (smaller) to take around with us that didn't have to work with our carseat.
Colin has also been enjoying his new Jumparoo! The first time we put him in it, Aunt Katelyn was on the webcam egging him on and he kept jumping really hard and then waiting for her to tell him to jump again! He loves the little toys on here and the noises it makes when he jumps. He giggles a lot when he's in it....

....except when Michael is home. As with the head control, rolling over, sitting, and other fun new tricks, Colin prefers not to show daddy. He will do something until Michael walks in the room and then go limp! We have taken to having Michael stand out of sight to see new things!

Unfortunately, this will probably continue as it is reminiscent of his daddy not letting on to anyone that he knew how to walk. He would crawl until he was out of sight (or so he thought) and then get up and walk! *sigh*

Last weekend Colin spent the morning with our friends Ben and Shawn and their daughter Brenna. Ben discovered that Colin is now ticklish and giggles when you tickle on his belly! So much fun!

Fun on a Rainy Day

Ryleigh came over today while Courtney was visiting Shawn in the hospital. It was rainy out, but we played with sidewalk chalk on the covered patio and then ran through the rain to wash it off our hands!
She is always such a good "mommy" for Colin. She brings him his pacifier if he cries and wipes his mouth when he drools. Today she was stroking his hair and trying to buckle him in the carseat that I was using as his outside chair (all the playmats and the bouncer were in the dryer!).
My silly boy!
When the rain started to come down harder Ryleigh pointed at it and shrieked! So funny!

Not 100% Seal!

So my sister made this collage to show that apparently Colin is not actually 100% Seal. His dumbstruck look comes from me...thanks!
This morning he was sitting for a few moments by himself on his changing table. I actually had the camera close enough to get a picture of it. He does much better if he has something to hold onto.

After I picked Michael up today we took Colin in for his 5 month pictures. For some reason he will grin and giggle for the girl we always have take them until we get him in the room and then he is either serious or annoyed. Nevertheless she still somehow manages to get good ones of him. This is him waiting with Michael after we were done:

Pictures for a somewhat uneventful week...

Well, we are officially teething. He was chomping this frozen washcloth like a piece of corn and would pull it to his mouth if we tried to move it, but he preferred we hold it since his hands were getting cold. He does not actually like most of the teething toys we have for him *sigh*.

This is our Michael-in-training shirt. Could he look any more like his father?

Michael and Colin just hung out Sunday afternoon since Michael had to go to Waco for the week and would be away from Colin for the first time!

We finally found a hat that fits (because it is stretchy) and has a semi-flexible brim that holds it out away from his face! I love this hat!!! I also love the shirt, which my friend Courtney found for him. He was actually pretty good this day though - dad decided to put the shirt on him. :)

This is Colin exhausted after playing at Sea World. He really likes watching my friends' daughters run around and wasn't too keen on getting in the water this day. In his defense, it was a little cooler than usual because we went in the morning while it was cool and cloudy.

His four month pictures, which we just got back, are a ploy for daddy to take us both camping this fall once it's not so blazing hot out. I love the silly expression he is doing for pictures now. Even when he has been smiling, he makes this goofy face for the camera. Hopefully he'll grow out of it!

Charmed Life...

I must lead a charmed life. I would swear that I have the sweetest husband on earth, so allow me a moment to brag on him. I was co-hosting a baby shower this weekend for one of my friends and Michael watched Colin for me Thursday night so I could cook and again last night so we could set up for the shower. Then today he played with Colin all day while I was gone. When I got back from the shower, I came home to a new cute brown beaded necklace and a card that says "Thank you. We love you super-mom! Love, Michael and Colin"! Aren't they the best?!?!?

So, here are some new pictures for your viewing pleasure, taken over the past few days:

Colin and I after the shower this afternoon. Apparently he had been a drool monster, so Michael just gave up on clothes today - welcome to our life lately!

I hesitate to share this next one, but the shocked look on his face in the picture is just so him and he seemed so pleased with himself afterwards! He actually rubbed his face in this, it didn't come out his nose. *NOTE*: if you haven't had kids yet (sis), maybe you should skip this so you won't change your mind!

Wednesday he discovered that he can make the duckie in his bath float away from him if he gives it a shove after letting go. It's so funny when he watches it bobbing away and his head moves up and down with it!

We went to the pool with Courtney and Ryleigh the other day. Colin liked the water once he finally got in, but at first he was just grabbing for me! :) He decided to start flirting with the camera after his swim too - such a charmer! He does this to people in the store, just making googly eyes at everyone who walks by and then grinning when they look at him! Look at the pudgy cheeks - the doctor said he gained 14 oz last week - my little piglet!
