Colin and I headed out today for an early morning zoo trip. We were talking last night at bath time about the flamingos who we've watched over the last few months build nests and lay eggs. Last time we were there, many of the flamingos were sitting on their nests incubating the eggs and Colin was wondering if they'd hatched, so we decided to go see!
Well, we lucked out today. Yes, many of the eggs have hatched and the zoo has a couple dozen new baby flamingos. We got to talk to one of the zookeepers who was telling us all about it when another keeper came out with a brand new egg for her to show us! A new baby flamingo hatched this morning! :)

Here are some more of the flamingos still sitting on their eggs.

Scarlett Ibis are some of Colin's latest favorite birds, so we had to see them today while we were there. Colin has two ibis figurines he plays with (one scarlett and one white) and he pretends that our little craft pompoms are their eggs!

The hippos were really active today and we sat and watched them swim for quite a while.

Then Colin wanted to see the lorikeets.

And of course the fish...

...and the lions before we could leave!

Hug!

Goodbye SA zoo!
